A Summer At The Durleys

dumb. had to explain to p. didnt he??? sooo after the profecy he sorta warned p. about this.... or petunia is a muggle and cause she is one of the 'order of the phonixes'' relitive she is clued in or they didnt do a memory thing to her and she got away after harry's parent died....

The letter was a howler, remember? Since Petunia didn't open it, it read itself. "Remember my last." was all it said, except it put her name in it somewhere, beginning or end. So yeah, it dosn't make sense to us, but it made perfect sense to Petunuia. While I don't think the Dursleys are going to make life a whole lot easier for Harry, I don't think they'll lock him up again.

! Does anyone else sense a heart to heat conversation between Harry and Petunia coming up in this book or the next?

Absolutely, a heart to heart with Peti is in order but I reckon that'll be in the 7th. Harry's meant to spend only a few weeks witht he Dursleys in the next book and Peti. is bottled up so tightly with.. whatever it is that she's got inside... that it's gonna take an all-out assault from Deatheaters on her front lawn for her to let it out. The Demeantors made her leak a bit of info. but wait 'til she blows!! That's gonna be v. interesting.

surprime witch & karaC: Dumb and Peti had been communicating when Harry's parents were alive ... !!! What about? She didn't need to know about the prophecy. V. few knew/know about it. Gotta assume that the Potters did that's why they were in hiding, but what's THAT got to do with Peti.? There's no reason to think that Voldemort was interested in the Dursleys therefore they weren't at risk. Why was Dumb writing to Peti? It's not just about the prophecy I reckon,but what?

Petunia didn't need to know about the Prophecy. We also don't know if Petunia corresponded with Dumbledore, perhaps the first letter she recieved was the letter left with wee barren Harry. I think that Petunia had some connection with the Magic world, obviously she is in some sort of debt with Dumbledore.

Now I'm confusing myself. The point I was trying to make was all that Petunia had in the last letter was "Remember my last," and that the Dursley's are going to tread lightly around Harry, but let him stay there because of that. Also, at the end of book 5, Moody scares Vernon with his eyeball, kinda of warning the family to be nice to Harry.

I think Petunia truly runs that house. If she puts her foot down, Dursley will do what she says. the next book has to reveal more about P's relationship to the wizarding community.
