| No Potterdog is a Potternut and proud of it. And we are proud of Potterdog! Potterdog: Buffybuff says that this will be our first Chat Baby. Whoa. I never looked at it like that. You will be the Chatbaby daddy. Wow Potterdog. This is heavy stuff. Our first Chatbaby. I feel like I should remove my snorkel mask and stand at attention or something. Let me check my stash of fireworks. This is worth at least 3 mortar mounted Roman candles. Oh m'gosh I am so nervous, I can't find any matches. Don't worry man. I won't let you down. Just tell me when the little fellow apparates and I will go to the alley behind my house, kick the cats off the trash cans and light some fireworks for the FIRST EVER HARRY POTTER CHATBABY! You can count on me. |

| YES I will be having the first Hp Chat Baby, too bad my wife wont let me name him or her after a potter charictor, but if i could I would name a boy Sirius, and for a girl i would of course use Herminoi, LOL JK. acually if it's a boy I think I will make his middle name Zonko LOL what do you think? |
| |||
| PDoggy:1 vote for Zonko as a middle name - boy or girl. My mate called her son Zebbedee. Isn't that just THE best anme ever?! Poor kid's destined to do nothing with their life, just go 'round and around forever I afraid (Zebedee is a character from 'The Magic Round About' in case you didn't know. 'Cause if you didn't I would have to say "sorry you didn't get the joke. Believe me, it was V. funny" and I'm kinda sick of putting that after everyone of my attempts at humour). fenrirbound: If time travel creates a different reality if the time traveller changes something, how come our/HP reality wasn't changed when Harry and Hermione (please PDog NOT Hermione!!! It's an AWFUL name!!!) changed things??? Also, if there are two 'branches' of a reality, can the time traveller choose which they would prefer to be in??? Therefore, are you suggesting that by alteriing reality, Harry and Hermione chose - for themselves and everyone they know - to live in a reality that they'd created/ where Buckbeak was still alive etc??? |

| Potterdog: I would be honored if you named you son, Sirius Zonko Potterdog. Or if you named your daughter, Hermione Zonko Potterdog. Of course, Mrs. Potterdog probably wouldn't like it. The first time someone asked her, "What exactly is a serious zonko," she would probably load her shotgun full of rock salt and come looking for you. Probably best not to rock the marital bliss boat. But I gotta tell I LIKE that name.........Sirius Zonko Potterdog. How lucky could a kid get? Fenrirbound: Actually, I have long thought that Harry Potter's Magic World does exist in a parallel universe. Hogwarts Train Station is located in a train station but in a parallel dimension. Platform 9.75 is sandwiched between 9 & 10 in a parallel dimension. A fireplace is a wormhole from the magic world into the muggle world and vice versa. The String Theory supports your notion that multi parallel dimensions exist simultaneously. So you definitely supported by the theoretical physics of the String Theory when you say that any changes made by going back in time only creates another parallel dimension. If that is so, then how do you know which time line you are going back into? Do you believe that all the dimensions are connected? Which time line would be the dominate one? I can handle The String Theory with all those little elastic spagettios vibrating on different levels. It's the 49 (or whatever) parallel dimensions that drive me bat guana. I prefer the Black Hole Theory. It only has one parallel universe. One is good. Buffybuff: What's wrong with the name Hermione? I thought it was sort of classic. I think fondly of that actress Hermione Ginghold whose name sounds rather like Hermione Gringotts. She was a dear old blister. |
| |||
| Zonko: Never heard of Hermione Ginghold but like all old blisters I'm sure she burst and went callus. NOPE!!! 'Hermione' is an awful name!! Believe me 'cause I've heard some horrors as a teacher!! Why is it that THE plainest/most ordinary looking kids in the world have the 'most outlandish/ exotic/ ill fitting/ parents wanted to make a mark on the world so thought they'd have a kid and give it a weird name they just made up!' names?? On the point of time turning, I reckon Zonko has probably answered it with the 'string theory' stuff but if Hermione and Harry changed 'reality' when did they do it, how many 'realities' did they change and how did they get back to their 'reality'/ how and when did they choose which of the realities they had created, did they return to? |

| I think everyone's just thinking a bit too hard about all this time turner stuff. I mean, I'm as interested in quantum physics and string theory as anyone else, but I kind of have a hard time accepting that that's got anything to do with Harry Potter, so let's all take a deep breath in...and out... Okay, good, now then, this time turner thing is tricksy, but I think it can all be explained by one simple idea: when you go back in time, you can't change anything. Let's start with the grandfather concept, right, the old cliche about going back and killing your grandfather. I guess we all know that one, huh? The thing is, it's impossible, because if you went back in time to kill your grandfather and actually managed it, then you'd never exist to go back in time and kill your grandfather. It's a paradox and it's a pain in the butt, but it's exactly the problem with every time travel film/book that you're ever going to read. The thing is, I think JK found a way round because, ultimately, when Harry and Hermione went back in time, they didn't really change anything. Think about it. Essentially the only thing that they might plausibly have changed was Buckbeak being killed and if we had actually seen Buckbeak being killed then you might have argued that they'd changed time. But, we didn't see that. All we hear is the fall of the executioner's axe. Harry, Ron and Hermione are too busy struggling with Scabbers to look back even if they'd wanted to. So, we can quite easily assume that Buckbeak had already been freed by another version of Harry and Hermione from the future and that the swish of the axe was just the executioner swinging his axe in frustration. This means of course, that whilst Harry and Hermione (from the future) are necessary to save Buckbeak, they NEVER actually changed time because Buckbeak was never killed. The same argument also holds true for Harry getting rid of the Dementors and saving Sirius. These things have always happened and therefore nothing has changed, it's just that there needs to be some involvement with future Harry and Hermione for these things to take place as they have always done. |
