Well, I'm still digesting, too.
The hat said it was because Harry had ambition.

The idea of Harry being a horcrux obviously never occurred to Dumbledore.
The idea of asking a dementor for help never did, either.
An interesting test would be to give the locket to a dementor and see what happens.

Better yet, talk to him/it about the locket.
How did Fudge manage to talk to them?
Can a dementor turn off the ill-effects?

Could you find the individual who attacked Harry instead of Sirius --
Let's call him "Bob."
Why did he do that? What do they sense when they meet Harry?

Lots of questions and no answers yet.

But hey -- how did you do that?

I just pm'd an admin and told them what i wanted to change it to and they change it for me. I was kind of getting tire of my other name...you probably know what since you've asked me if its "the mall" or "them all"...lol...And i figured you were just thinking on it but still, i had to say it anyways.

My understanding was that the Dementors are attracted to Harry because he has such a traumatic memory.

I dont think so. They just cause him to relive the memory...i dont see how they could be attracted to him by it unless they could read minds and we haven't seen anything to prove that yet.

Something in my memory tells me there's somthing to what I said earlier, I'll have to keep my eye out for it.

Was it Lupin? Dumbledore?
Someone said that they have such an unusually strong effect on Harry
because of his tragic past. It's most likely in the patronis lessons with
Lupin. Nobody has said that they are specifically attracted to Harry.

At that quiddich match, they couldn't resist all the excitement.
"It was their idea of a feast."
They can somehow sense something yummy.

To address your first post:
Quote:
How about if you bring a dementor into the picture?
If it can work in Azkaban and follow other instructions,
can it gently remove a horcrux from the object without destroying the object?[/b]
I'm not sure why a dementor would be able to do this. Do you have any specifics from the books on why you think this? I think the only information that we have on horcruxes as far as their destruction is the destruction of the entire object. Then again, it is an interesting idea that they could possibly be removed without destrying the object, but on the other hand (I fee like Tevye now ) this would only be relevant if a person is a horcrux, which I think isn't the case at all.
Quote:
Why did they search his compartment on the train?[/b]
We don't know that they didn't search other compartments too though.
Quote:
Why did they single him out at that Quiddich match?[/b]
That is a good question.
Quote:
Why did they attack him before attacking Sirius?[/b]
Why not? Dementors seem to go after whatever they think they can get. Harry was probably just an opportunistic thing and a way for Rowling to tack on another traumatic experience for Harry
Quote:
How do they communicate? We know that Fudge talks to them.
They told him that Sirius had been talking in his sleep.
And that they were "angrier than I had ever seen them.[/b]
This is a good qustion and I've wondered about it myself, but I'm not sure how it relates to wether or not they can remove a horcrux from an object without destrying the object.

That was probably it. Thanks

You all understand that we're talking about an accidental
horcrux? One that Voldemort doesn't know about.

A dementor can remove the soul from a person and leave
him technically alive. I'm trying to figure a way for it (him?)
to remove a little chunk of something that doesn't belong
there. Like, maybe if you ask him nicely.
Or tell him that he can have it.

I can't think of anything that indicates that there can be an accidental horcrux. Everything in the books seems to indicate that it is something someone has to do very purposefully.

Yes, your right aberforth, but then again, nobody is suppossed to be able to survive the killing curse either. Maybe when he transfered some of his powers(i dont think your suppossed to be able to do that without meaning to) he also completly ripped his soul and some of it went into harry. I know thats not very informative but its the best i can think of now, i will fix it later.
