Why Is He So Mean?

No offense, but I've noticed that this board dosn't get a lot of posts, so I'd thought I'd make a few. Some of these questions I already have theories and ideas for them, but I want to know what you all think.

What is the reason you think, that Draco is so mean? We know he's mean to Harry because Harry kinda insulted him in the first book when he sided with Ron, but why was Draco so rude to Ron? True, Ron laughed at Draco's name, but surely, that can't be the only reason.

Why does he hate "mudbloods?" Is it because his father dosn't approve of them?

Lastly, do any of you think Draco is going to become nicer in some of the later books? Is he going to become friends with Harry, or try to kill him?

Don't get me wrong, I love Malfoy, but you can't ignore the fact that he's always trying to make Harry, Ron, and Hermione's lives miserable. What do you all think?

To answer the first question i think draco is so mean because 1. His father is a death eater and harry was the cause of lord voldemort's fall . That means in his household draco has grown to hate harry because his father hates him and 2. Draco is jealous of harry , harry gets alot of attention and draco would like to have the same attention that harry is getting.
I think draco is rude to ron once agin by draco's father Lucius malfoy hates the weasley's not only because they like muggles it's a feeling of superiority the weasley's are poor so they look down on them.
I think draco hates mudbloods because they feel that they are on the muggle side they are not fully witches and wisards .
I do not like malfoy not only because i like harry and he's mean to them .His personality and actions are very mean.

I do not think draco will be nice to anyharry ron or hermionee i sometimes think he will try to be nice to harry to get him away from ron and hermione like he did in the first book but he will have a stronger attempt . I do not think he will be on there side based on present events but he will actually contrube to a plot to hurt harry.

Just look at the way Draco is treated by his own father. The scene in knocturn alley (Chamber of Secrets) when Draco accompanied his father to dispose of dark items. Malfoy berated his son for making lower marks than Hermione whom he called a mud blood. His comments were not encouraging or loving. We need to look no farther than the Father to explain the actions of the son. He treats others the way he sees his father treat others -- the way his father treats him -- the way Voldomort treats his followers.

Yeah, I agree that Lucius has a huge impact on Draco's personality, but is that all? Obviously having Snape as his head teacher, and proud and rude friends, but is that all?
I do think that Harry being popular is a factor, but it can be too big. Draco is filthy rich, surely he could 'buy' popularity, yes?

I wish draco and harry would get along at the end of the book but since harry pit dracos father away i dont think theres a fat chance in heck that will happen now

Draco needs to be there to hate! He is the foil to Harry's character and he bring out all Harry's good and bad aspects. That is his literary purpose. Besides, Draco would loose all his sex appeal if he got a personality make over. I love to hate him.

the malfoy's think they're better then every one else because they're purebloods. they dont like the weasley's beacause 1 they were in griffindor. 2 they werent deatheaters. 3 they r poor. seriouspadfoot if your a boy i hope ur not gay because the"he'll loose his sex appeal." sounded gay.

I don't think that Harry alone can change Draco, especially after getting his father in trouble.
I think that if Malfoy comes to "see the light" it will be Snape who uncovers his eyes.
