Mistakes In The Book?!

There are mistakes in the book. minor misspelings are okay but in Half Blood Prince we learn that Voldemort must have cursed the DaDa job. Dumbledore himself says no teacher has lasted more than a year in the job and it seems true. But in the sorcerers stone the older students seem to know Quirrell and even mention how he was fine untill he took off and ran into vampires and werewolves and other creatures. I recall Percy talking about it. what do you think?

Maybe because voldemort was a part of quirrell, the curse didn't affect him. Or, since he was the one that cursed the job in the first place, he could have taken it off for his own evil purposses.

That makes a hell of a lot of sense. I too think that it was quirell who cursed the job.

Quirrell was young.

He could have had another position within Hogwarts.

Or he could have been a student,
spent a year or two working elsewhere after graduation,
then returned for his one year as the DADA teacher.

I thought it was Hagrid who talked about the former Quirrell.
They met him in the Leaky Cauldron.

It was Hagrid who told us that he was okay until he met some vampires.

We only know about him teaching for one year.
Based on what Dumbledore said about Voldemort cursing the job so many years ago, I believe that Quirrel was the DADA professor in Book 1 only.

In post #6, I was responding to something else.
I ranted on for 10 or 15 minutes, hit "add reply,"
and when I looked again I realized that I misunderstood what the other post said.
I don't know how to completely delete a post, but it was too dumb to just leave there.
So I hit "edit," erased it all and said, "Never mind."
Maybe I should have said "***"
Or just left it blank.
Which would have worked better?

I just asumed that quirrel taught before. Dumbledore didnt introduce him as new or say our new DaDa teacher is... Or maybe i missed that part.

Maybe he was the DaDa teacher for his first year, went on a planned research trip to study vampires for a year (and stumble upon Voldy), then returned for the post once more so it seemed like his post was temporarily filled for a year...kind of like Grubbly-Plank filling in for Hagrid.


Though this is quite a bit of speculation that doesn't relate to Harry Potter's life at hoggy-warty Hogwarts...and even if we found out he got around the curse of the DaDa position, it wouldn't affect what we know about the story.
