...I bet it was well scary for people who lived nearby... As for the You Know Who obsession... [/b]
Like I said, I do live nearby.
I was close enough to see the smoke.
If I knew when to look, I could have stepped outside and watched them crumble.
I've never been afraid to say Bin Laden's name.
This fear of a name just makes no sense in the modern world.
It's just not something intellegent people would do.

Maybe no where we live, but think of the people who lives in countries with a constant war, danger or Dictature (I think I have just invented that word, but I don't have any dictionary near now, sorry), like here in Spain 50 years ago with Franco; there could not be more that 5 people at the same room or police could accuse you of spying, conspirancy...
We live in peace now, we have nothing to fear on the countries where we live, but imagine if it wasn't so, if you had something terrible to be scared of, would speak about it knowing that there are spys everywhere?

I recently read a book called Et Recorde Amanda in Valenciano about this girl's grandmother lived in the time of Franco's dictation (there you go, I've corrected the word for you) and then they moved to Chile when they had the golpe de estado with Pinochet. I heard he died not long ago. I hope he suffered, unlike Franco. All those deaths and miisery he was responsible for, and he just died peacefully in his sleep. Disgusting...

Exactly!! My grandmother's father was taken from his home to be killed at the mountains just because he left my grandmother get married with a german man!! He scape, but then all of them had to run away to Germany and spent there the Second World War, or they would have been killed in my town!!

Hermione1990, you also have to study "Valenciano", it must be very confussing!
Thank you for your correction.

God that must have been awful! You're welcome. I don't find Valenciano difficult though because i've been studying it since i was 7 or 8. I get Sobresaliente in it nearly all the time. I'm good at languages.

Ginevra, you bring up a good point about people in other countries and all, and the reason they're afraid to say the name is because they're afraid that an army is going to march up to them and kill them all which is pretty much the case with Voldemort and his Death Eaters. The only problem with it is though, is that it's kind of different because for one Voldemort's not the leader of the "country" (in this case Ministry) and doesn't have a HUGE army at his disposal, and the other reason is that unlike in those countries where the threat does have a HUGE army at his disposal and can position them to hear everything that goes on, Voldemort does not have that power. So pretty much, the whole thing it comes down to, is fear, fear that they and their family members are going to be killed which is pretty smart on Voldemort's half to know, especially for a man who has never experienced love.
