What do you think? I've heard many many MANY theories, ideas, stories arguments, questio- OK I'll just stop there, about which side Snape is on.
But I think we'd all like to tally up once and for all who supports Snape and who doesn't.
You'll notice I didn't put a "Not Sure" choice in. Thats because I reckon that if you have a good think about all the evidence JKR has given us about the situation, you will be able to come to a conclusion.
So what are you waiting for, VOTE!!

I so totally despise Snape with all my heart. he is a worthless 'thing' that doesn't deserve to live.

totally, he is evil im rereading the goblet of fire for the millionth time and guess what, snape really is evil! voldemort is talking to wormtail he says something like this:"One more death... my spy at hogwarts will tell us when the path to harry potter is clear" theyve been planning dumbys death for 2 years or more!ill kill snape myself, but argh, hes a fictional character, unless.. jk rowlng is a witch and this is real, hmm, im not just crazy, im psychotic!

But I think Snape is on the good side. Really I have that feeling. I also think he is not a nice person, but that doesn't mean that he is on the dark side. We'll see what JK has for us in store. But I think we all be surprised!

I agree with you. he's so stinking eviland cruel. and after all those years of trust that dumby put in him. he betrayed him in less than two minutes. I hate snape

Sorry lovey I can't.
I was all for 'snape the misunderstood goodguy'. I thought it was obvious from the conversation Hagrid overheard between Snape and Dumby that Snape was intended for this hard road and that it was o Dumby's orders. After reading the 'new years day interview' with Jo on the Laeky Culdron site I'm just not sure anymore. Jo says, in this interview -the way i read it- that those that think of Snape that way are "wishful thinkers".

The refernce in the interview is obscure but it was enough to make me rethink.

I think Snape is good. I think he has been mistreated and misunderstood for so long. And...I think the spy that Voldie is talking about in Goblet is (whats his name?) the guy who impersonated Mad Eye Moody...and in Half Blood Prince Draco Malfoy. Snape has always had an eye out for the students, he helps them and protects them from the begining. (see my posts on the clues form book 1). He didn't have to warn the Order about Harry and the DA going to the Ministry to find Sirius....but he did...and subsequently many death eaters were killed, maimed, arrested and Voldie didn't get the prophecy. He didn't kill Harry when he was running away with Malfoy..but he could. He helped Lupin by brewing the Wolfsbane potion...even though he didn't like him personally. There are so many many things I could say but I'll leave that for later posts. My answer ultimatly is...Sanape is good and we shall see the role that he fills revealed in the last book.
