James & Lily Potter

I just wanted to know if there was any real background information on the Potter's mentioned in the book other than the memories from the Pensieve that Harry saw in Snape's office.

We know almost nothing, which is very suspicious to me.

Of James' parents, all I remember is that their home was like a second home to Sirius.

Of Petunia's family, all we know is that she is hiding something.
She has been discussed in a few places around these forums.
I believe she will be important in the 7th book.
