I was wondering if anyone might tell me if there is more information about Dumbledore's brother. I remember a brief mentioning in OOP, but has there been anyother mention of him that I have missed. Is he alive or dead?

I dunn if Dumbledore's brother is dead, but he's called Aberforth, and in GOF Dummbledore tells Hagrid that his brother was once prosecuted for practicing "inappropriate charms on a goat". Aberforth was in the original Order of the Phoenix, and he's apparently the bartender oft the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade.
This is what JK says about him:

Question: Why is the barman of the Hog’s Head vaguely familiar to Harry? Is he Dumbledore’s brother?

Answer: Ooh—you are getting good. Why do you think that it is Aberforth? [Audience member: Various clues. He smells of goats and he looks a bit like Dumbledore]. I was quite proud of that clue. That is all that I am going to say. [Laughter]. Well yes, obviously. I like the goat clue—I sniggered to myself about that one.

Hey, wouldn't it be weird if Aberforth was an unregistered animagus? His form? A goat, of course! Then he could sneak into death eater meetings and report back to the order....

lol! That would be awesome! So I too believe that Dumbledore's brother is the bar tender and that he'll probably play a big part in the last book. Hey! Isn't Aberforth Dumbledore's twin?

I have just seen in a JK interview that it is confirmed that Aberforth is the bartender, she also said that she loved the clue she gave for it, the clue that said that the bartender smelled like goats. So now we do know for certain that Aberforth is Dumbledore's brother, the bar tender, and is alive! Wow! I bet he would feel honored if he heard all the people talking about him, lol!
