"In the shrieking shack, is Snape refusing to listen because of his hatred of Sirius or does he know the truth about Wormtail and is trying to prevent it from surfacing?"

If you let it brush by, it might not seem like anything important.
But if you think about it...
Nah. Couldn't be.
I'm working through it, and I think the worst is over.

Chapter 19, in the shrieking shack. Several times. Ending with "You're pathetic!" Harry yelled. "Just because they made a fool of you at school you won't even listen --"

It's very possible. After-all, if the theory put forward about Snape being there the night of the Potters' death is true its possible that he knew who the secret keeper was.

I tend to agree. Snape in a way, I think, was much like Draco when he was younger, too eager to please those he idolized before really figuring out what they were about. He inadvertantly came accross a juicy piece of info when he overheard Trelawney's prophecy and made a beeline for Voldemort hoping to get on his good side.

I think that Snape really has switched over to the 'good' side and is probably the truest member of the Order of the Phoenix. I also think that he will probably give his life in book 7 for his beliefs. He still hates James and Sirius for how they treated him in school. He is acting out of the instructions of Dumbledore and killing Dumbledore may have been planned, may have been an act of mercy, or may have been unavoidable owing to the oath given to Draco's mother.

rowling says on her site that snape was not in godric hollows when voldy killed the potters.

oh ja and remember at the end of the 6th book, when harry is chasing snape... one death eather gets harry from behind, but snape saves harry. shouting that they have to let potter for voldy. if he really was bad he would have killed harry there, he could have done. voldy would have been more than happy with that, even more happy than killing DD.
but snape didnt do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why??
well, the answer is simple: becouse he is not on voly's side, but on harry's!!

Actually, it says:
Rumor: "Snape was hiding under the invisibility cloak on the night the potters died."
JKR: "No, he wasn't."
You'll notice that it doesn't actually mention Godric's Hollow. It's only about the cloak.
Ya gotta watch her. She's tricky.
I was never a fan of the Snape-was-in-Godric's-Hollow theory.
I see nothing in the books to support it. But this little slight-of-hand has me suspicious.

This goes back to the Harry-is-an-accidental-Horcrux theory.
At first, Voldemort was trying to kill Harry.
Then Arthur was attacked by the snake, just before Christmas in the Order of the Phoenix.
Dumbledore said that, after Harry's vision of the attack on Arthur, Voldemort became aware of the mysterious connection created by the scar.
I say that this was the moment Voldemort became aware of the Horcrux, and changed his mind about killing Harry.

well.. Thats true that JKR is tricky.. but like you said i dont think snape was there.. just nothing in the books to support that thoery.

and Harry as an Accidental Horcrux.. i just dont think there is enough evidence to support that either. see my post in "Harry as a Horcrux"
