Who is Draco Malfoy?
Is he just a coward? Does he have hidden potential? Is he really a die-hard Slytherin, or is he just... mixed up? Is he the boy you love to hate? Is he the boy you hate to love?
You can't forget, he just plain couldn't kill Dumbledore... and, when the trio was brought to Malfoy Manor and he was called upon to identify Harry, he was very half-hearted in the attempt.
So... who is he? He has more than one side, that's for sure. Cowardice is one of his traits, but that's more admirable than being pure evil.
Who do you think Draco Malfoy is?

I think he is a misguided person. I'm definitely NOT a fan of his but I think its good (And somewhat redeeming) that he couldn't (or wouldn't) kill Dumbeldore and that in his attempts to identify Harry, he was very half-hearted in the attempt. So on the whole I guess I think he is Misguided, Cowardly and Annoying.

So in conclusion I pick for the first five books: a die-hard Slytherin
For the last two books I pick: he is just... mixed up

Draco is one of my favorite characters because he is found not to be the evil person we first think he is. He has goodness inside him. And of course he is scared...who wouldn't be in his place? In one way he had more pressure put upon him than Harry. He knew his parents would suffer if he failed. Who wouldn't worry about that?

Pips, I don't mind your obsession with Draco Malfoy, but I draw the line at "He had more pressure put upon him than Harry."
OK, maybe Draco's parents would suffer if he failed, but if Harry failed, the entire Wizarding World would suffer.
Draco just dealt with the pressure badly. His attempts to succeed weren't thought-out, and when he finally had a chance to complete the job, he couldn't.
