Harry Potter Conventions

I have been wondering if there is such a thing as HP conventions like those so popular with Star Trek and Star Wars fan(atics).

If there is, clue me in about it--If there isn't, any thoughts on if there will be or should be? Where? When? Would you go?

Well, I Googled "Harry Potter Convention" and what my conclusion was that there didn't seem to be an offical convention that took place every year, because there seemed to be quite a few different fan-driven ones, but they weren't (as far as I could tell with some quick browsing) on a regular schedule. I wish there was a Harry Potter Convention, though.

That would be really cool, especially if they got the actors to come.

(LOTR has Ring Con/One Ring Celebration, they always have one or two actors from the movies come. I want to go to that as well.

Exactly--I never thought of LOTR. Sure. Do you think there would more interest in the US or the UK? And more importantly. could we get Gary Oldman or Alan Rickman?

I wish. I think that HP is rooted in the UK, but they could probably make more money off the US. I have to say, I really don't care too much if Daniel Radcliffe or anyone really comes, but I would LOVE for Rickman or Oldman, or even Finnes.

Isn't that paradise? To truly appreciate the golden taste of youth, while its' cusp remains within your grasp?

Besides, that's the true ability in the HP series- now, don't get me wrong, the students are good as well, but it's not the same as being able to say- that, that's Rickman's Snape, masterpiece it is.

I would be all over an HP convention - but that is so odd as I always have avoided eye-contact with people who expressed interest in Star Trek conventions. I would love to see Rickman - but he would have to be in and stay in character. Second character I would most like there would be Hagrid - (don't remember that actor's name).
