About Prefect

Recently I reread the series and found that I have been never understanding what's the difference
between " prefect " and " head boy/girl " .
If someone can answer me this , please ?

A prefect doesn't have as many privileges and responsibilities as Head Boy/Girl.

There is only one Head Boy and one Head girl, but there are 6 (I think....two for 5th year, 6th year, and 7th year..right?) prefects for each house.

I thought it was one boy and girl in each house -- 8 x 3 years = 24.

(Oh -- that's what you said. Sorry. I should read before I reply.)

There are two prefects in each house starting in the 5th year and only 1 head boy and head girl I think to be head boy/girl you have to be a prefect though

I think the only difference is that Headboy/Headgirl are like the top prefects. They have more authority over the prefects.
