Yeah, a hippogriff, that's right.

Well on a thing on the 3rd movie DVD there was a thing with JK.

She said that she got most of the stuff about the creatures out of mythology books and the Internet, and she said that she had to kinda make a lot of them up, as well.

Alot of writers take stuff from mythology. That doesn't mean that she has not made something truely original. Alot of people can look up myth , but what she does with this story is amazing to say the least.

Yes, I agree she makes it wonderful to read about.

And she adds her own little touch to all of the creatures that makes them so unique.

Exactly! And yeah, she did get the hippogriff from greek mythology along with the centaur.
