Acclaimed independent film director Mira Nair has been invited to direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, according to Brazilian entertainment site Cinema em Cena.

The site links Warner Bros.' choice of Alfonso Cuarón, a relatively obscure director prior to helming Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, with their report. Nair directed 2001's Monsoon Wedding and the just-released Vanity Fair.

However, when contacted by HPANA, an intern at Nair's offices in New York said she wasn't aware of any such announcement, so this is definitely to be considered a rumor. It's also very unlikely that a script has even been written (or started) for the fifth Potter film, and most directors like to know what they're getting into before accepting.
