Extremely reliable sources have told The Leaky Cauldron that British actress Miranda Richardson has been cast to play Rita Skeeter in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Ms. Richardson has recently finished filming The Phantom of the Opera which is being released in December 2004 and is widely known for being in such films as The Hours, Get Carter, The Crying Game and Sleepy Hollow.

This of course is just a rumor as it was reported earlier this year in an interview in Now! magazine that Rosamund Pike had been cast in the role.

Once we receive official confirmation from Warner Bros. we will let you know.

i wish i can get a pictue she looks a little larger than how i imagined rita to be i imagine to be skinny and wear a glasses but hopefully she will act the way rita does

"BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 4, 2004--Ralph Fiennes ("Red Dragon," "Maid in Manhattan," "Schindler's List") and Miranda Richardson ("The Hours," "Sleepy Hollow," "The Crying Game") have joined the all-star cast of Warner Bros. Pictures' "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," the fourth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's popular Harry Potter novel series. Fiennes will play Harry Potter's nemesis, the evil Lord Voldemort, and Richardson takes on the role of muckraking journalist Rita Skeeter."

Wow! I wonder hope she plays the part of Rita very well! I like the character of Rita! it's so fun, but at the same time quite mean!
