His 18. He couldn't touch any of his money only a small portion of it till his 18th which was a few weeks ago.

Well, the books don't exactly follow real time, considering one Howarts year has been equivalent to two years in our time, because that is how long it took JK to get a book out. HPDH might have come out in 2007 when Harry was 18, but HPPS came out more than 7 years ago, although only 7 years have passed in the books.

if you take it into consideration that each year at hogwarts is (i'm assuming) like a school year & last for about 180 days plus or minus days spent there during the holidays, and the fact that in the wizarding world, they come of age at 17 rather than 18 (which is told to us in HBP by Dumbledore when speaking to the Dursleys), Harry in DH just turns 17 because he had to be somewhere safe before he turned 17 because after that he could no longer call the Dursleys' house home because he'd be of age after that & his mother's protection would wear off. thus, the prologue would take place 19 years later when Harry is 36.

does that make sense?
