Basically, the year is based on the number of posts that are made. However, the posts need to be more than "Oh" .. "Yah" .. "Uh huh" .. "What? I don't understand" The Admins are starting to delete posts that do not contribute to the site -- so make sure that you contribute to the topic or start your own. Welcome to Harry Potter Chat! |

Please realize that it is considered rude to hijack a thread. Simply learn when to start your own topic rather than interrupting an on-going thread. Also, watch dates. Many new members dig up old threads that have not been discussed for a year and post a one liner. Quote:

As you may have noticed, we have started to clean up the conversations so that new users can follow the topics. It's very easy once you get the hang of where to post and also learn to use the "My Assistant" in the top of the forum. It'll save you a lot of effort. After all, there were over 500 new messages posted on one day last week. It took a lot of time to read them. Have a great time Shelby. We appreciate you being around. Keep up with sharing your ideas. |

| i understand now dumbledore but one more thing do we need to use proper writing techniques on this chat forum i dont see why we need to because as long as everyone knows what we are saying for the most part whh does it matter because i could use proper punctuation and all but i am to lasy to do and dont u understand me perfectly |

| "because i could use proper punctuation and all but i am to lasy to do [so]" It's summer. I work 40+ hours a week and I still have plenty of time to add in periods... Actually I add in too many because I am always overusing the ellipsis (...) in order to add the pauses in my mental process, and give me enough time to think of the next thing I am going to type. If you type the way you write a paper (that is, formally) you will soon be able to outtype your thought process, therefore eliminating your problem with laziness. That is, unless you find the pushing of little keys too rough on delicate fingers... |

| Chill, guys. He's not trying to give you a hard time. What annoys me is people who deliberately mutilate the language in an effort to be cute or something. Like da wuns dat talk like dis. Da make ya work overtime, an id usually turn out dat dey got no'in to say dat I need to hear. This board is for little kids, old folks (like your's truly), foreign born people who's english is not too strong yet... Just make it easy on the rest of us and use the best Standard English you know. If you're 6 years old and your spelling or punctuation is less than perfect, I can live with that. |

| True, it's one thing if you're in third grade. Then you shouldn't take offence when I tell you that your post looks like a fourth grader wrote it... But to just be too lazy? It's like those people who type in all caps- I'd tell you what I think of people who type in all caps, but I know somebody who says it better than I can, so I'll just quote... "Seven sixteenths of one inch: [The distance between the letter 'a' and the capslock key] That's the distance you'd have to move your pinky in order to not sound like an idiot. I know the burden of pressing shift to capitalize is a great one, but c'mon Turing, you can do better than that. I used to type emails in caps like yours, but then I decided that I didn't want a job mixing concrete." - Maddox (http://www.maddox.xmission.com/hatemail.cgi?p=1) |
