Hello, I am one of the newest members of the Harry Potter chat. The name's Desi in case you didn't know. So, I'll start out with the basics.
Harry Potter is a huge part of my life. I grew up a lot while reading the books and watching the movies. Hogwarts is my home away from home, when I want to escape, I just pick up my favorite book and start reading. The first Harry Potter book I actually recieved was the Prisoner of Azkaban; UK edition. I had never been interested in the series before and wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. I remember loving the cover art, that's what got me started. I finally decided that if I was going to read this one, I might as well start at the beginning. Long story short, I fell in love. Immediately I became best friends with Harry, Ron and Hermione. I slept in the dorm rooms, and hung out in the common room. I snuck out with them in the middle of the night and was terrified of the mean potions master. I was finally a part of a world I could relate to. Even now, years later, I can still be spotted with a beaten up copy of the Philosipher's Stone clutched in my hand. Harry Potter inspired me to begin my own writing. And even though I never recieved a letter on my elleventh birthday, I still feel like I'm part of the magic.
My fave Harry Potter Book:
well, that would be a tie between the Prisoner of Azkaban and The Deathly Hallows.
My fave HP movie:
that one is easy. I absolutely love the Order of the Pheonix. They did an amazing job on that one, the graphics are wonderful, not to mention the characters. I loved it so much I went to see it four times in theaters, not counting the release.
Other books I love:
The other series I have grown to love is J.R.R Tolkein's Lord of the Rings. Although it may not seem like it, to me, HP relates a lot to LOTR.LOTR is like the history behind HP. Another series that fits right in are Stephanie Meyer's books, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse. Every book I read, I can fit it in with the HP books. like my own magical world.
My fave HP couple:
Ha. please don't kill me, but I am a major HG/SS shipper. I love the idea of snape finally finding the love he deserves, and hermione finally finding someone with the same range of intellect as her own. Sorry, but Ron just doesn't do it for me. He's a good friend, but not the kiind of man she deserves.
In my free time...
well, seeing as band, choir, and school take up most of my life, there is truly not that much free time. I love to write though, and I tend to either write or draw while in truth I am supposed to be doing home work or listening to the teachers. At home, the computer is like an attachment to my body. I am deep into HP fan fiction at the moment, although I fail to write my own. (damn plot bunnies) and the other 2% of my time is spent reading or trying to avoid my hectic family.
