Default Calling "Slurp Spider"
Who or what is this "Yahoo! Slurp Spider"?
And "Google AdSense Spider."
They're all over the "Who's Online" page.
Is this some kind of spy-bot?
And why is he/she/it reading "The Death In The Sixth Book,"
which hasn't been touched since August of 2005?

These are bots from Yahoo and Google. The bots collect the content from the site and when someone uses Google or Yahoo to find a page then the search engine results will hopefully list this site. Sometimes, we'll see MSN spiders as well as AOL spiders.. and thousands of other search engines may some day discover this site ...

In the simplest of terms, spiders are good; that is, the more spiders, the more likely the site is found by other Harry Potter fans.

You're so right..lol. I stumbled onto this site quite by accident..was looking for something that I heard JKR had commented about in a site called The Leaky Cauldron..

I was originally looking for the release date of the next book lol. While searching that I happened to get into JKR's own site and noticed something written there about her feeling touched by something written or said in the Leaky Cauldron. I got interested and went looking for it. Got into the Leaky Cauldron - I don't know if it was the right one though..I remember there were a few sites with similar names. Any way, I never found what I was looking for.

I had entered HPC in my quest to find that thread, but didn't join then. The next time I typed the letter "h" in my Web Address bar, 'harrypotterchat.org' popped up. I came back in and joined.

And since I've joined HPC, I've been to a Leaky Cauldron site linked to this place..by then I'd forgotten that I'd been searching for something in there once.

Has this spider been misbehaving?

I saw a Google AdSense Spider (IP address 66.249.70.37)
Lurking around, viewing the thread, "Robo-Hagrid, Are you here yet?"
and the list showed a stop sign.
This is in Hogsmeade. I thought they couldn't go there.
