Most users online ever

I just noticed that the most users online ever occurred yesterday at 11:50 AM (U.S. Central time). Wow. Nifty. I wonder why.

The number was reset after the migration. About a year ago, there were several hundred online at once. In fact, looking over the database, we have thousands of people who joined in 2005 who have not been back and so an email was sent to them - inviting them back. Hopefully they did not see the email as spam. At least there are 200 or so active witches and wizards.

Maybe people who signed up, never posted, and have not been back should be deleted?

Ahh, I see. I hope they do come back. I hope they weren't swallowed up by any of the larger discussion boards

I suppose you could. I'm not exactly sure what difference it would make though.

A good policy is to delete personal data after a few years when an account is inactive or deleted.

Gotcha. Yeah, migh want to do that then. Give the people you emailed a certain amoutn of time to get back and then delete stuff past a certain age.

Can you seperate the people who never posted at all from those who posted a bunch but haven't been around in a while?

What is your definition of an "active member?"

There is a date/time setting and I am not sure of the default setting and will look tomorrow. It is late.

Well, obviously it was because the new book was almost out and people were itching to talk about it!

I moderate a teacher bb and we are having this very discussion there. When do you delete a user. I said a year with no posting. 2 years with less than 5. they can always re-register and start over.
