I noticed the same thing. I think academically trained actors do their best to refer to their characters in the third person. It's part of their filling in all the facts on the character. Now I am going to wax on about how great all of the cast is. As I've said before I love the fact that we have watched all the children grow up. And I am delighted that Jo insisted on an all British cast. If she had allowed Americans we would probably have been subjected to the indignity of Tom Cruise as Lupin or Asheley Judd as Tonks or something. Horrors. And such a treat to see all the wonderfully trained British actors such as Maggie S., Alan R., Richard H. (bless him), Fiona S., Richard G. and on and on.

Indeed they are.

Yes he is very convincing in his many parts. IMDB lists him as being from "New Cross, London, England" I don't know if that is a suburb or what. Someone on the list is likely to educate me. |

To continue on Gary Oldman. He does great American accents. I often see him and think he's familiar, but can't place him. He doesn't do the kind of American accent that you hear on Masterpiece Theatre and Mystery where they sound extremely nasal and obnoxious. I guess that's what Americans sound like to the Brits. It's no wonder that Jo didn't want any in her show.

Part of the reason Oldham is so hard to place is because he doesn't have a "look." He can so very completely take a character on physically. It's amazing to me. Now, I love Alan Rickman too -- every since I saw him in Robin Hood, but he's an easy spot. Oldham is not at all obvious. I saw Richard Harris in person. When we lived in Atlanta, he was in Camelot. And Amazing.
