After that, I imagine it would depend on Harry's reaction, and how the following battle played out. Severus might have resumed his role as spy until the last moment when Harry needed protection from the DE other than Voldemort, or he could have openly declared his loyalties (which would have been dangerous and possibly even foolhardy). It's hard to say exactly how things would have panned out- especially since we don't know what Severus suspected, as far as the completeness of what Dumbledore told him (I can imagine that Severus would come to the conclusion that Dumbledore didn't really mean for Harry to die, in one way or another. All speculation, of course.) |
