Anyway,
Slughorn was clear.
The "torn portion" already exists when the wizard chooses to encase the torn portion. | Molly Weasley intended to murder Bellatrix Lestrange. That still is a deciding point to me- that making a Horcrux and committing murder are two very different things (including where the soul is concerned). |
