I never thought about it before, because I was just happy that she finally started with it, and left all the books for "beginners" (you know with pictures in it, not more than 100 pages, stories about horses and whatever) behind her . But now, I am not sure if I can let her go until the end.

Is there anybody who has some experiences with kids in that age?
I started reading the series to my daughter when she was 8 - she is now 16 and basically grew up with Harry - The books are a testimony of character and good vs evil - with wonderful episodes of humor and angst - you need to read them and decide - but as a parent and teacher - I feel they are a gift to literature - simple, yet profound.
