I thought the quality of JK's writing started to drop after she surpassed "well-off" and entered "just plain filthy rich". The fact that she didn't need to write the books anymore, seemed to me to be reflected in her work, because although everything worked out decently, I really found HBP lacking in comparison to the other books. DH ranked above that, but still below the majority of the first 5 books on my own personal list.
I've had a lot of issues with JK simply not honoring her own work as much as some of her fans, with the movies especially, where she, of all people, should have noticed- and stopped- all the shortcomings. |
