Re: real world connections Not direct connections- but where JK was influenced when she created her one characters, by Tolkein and Lord of the Rings, and her plotlines, by real life and crucial events. It lends to the overall tone of the book- because the idea of "good vs. evil", so strong in both LOTR and HP, is very much a WWII-era philosophy, or at least orginiated there in modern times, as opposed to, say, WWI, - which was countries feuding, and yes, eventually one of them capitalizing on the fighting- but no clear cut definition of "this side is evil". |
