Colin was there because he was pretty much summoned by Neville with the rest of the DA. That he stuck around even after only those of age were allowed to stay, shows his loyalty to Harry I think.

But there were 50 or so bodies in the great hall. I'd really like to know who else amongst the students died. I do remember Lavender falling and almost being attacked by Fenrir before Trelawney had her say.
