I think Peter's day in the lime light is still ahead. A magical bond has formed between Harry and Peter as DD has stated. I think He'll consciously help Harry in a crucial way, but only after Vt finds out about the life debt. Peter may have no choice but to help Harry and hope that Harry wins the fight. Peter's too spineless to leave his sanctuary without due reason. I don't think it will be a Vader and Luke scenario.
