Snape called himself the half-blood prince because of his witch mother, eileen prince. tobias snape was his father and a muggle. although he still carries his father's name, i think he was acting like voldemort did in school. he thought himself up a cool nickname from his magic background, but where voldemort used his among his circle of friends, did snape even have any friends in school?

I think he might of had a couple of friends.. but from what i read he never called himself the half-blood prince only in his old potions book.
I think that Jk might lead us on with Snape. i dont think hes guilty. He just never seemed like it before. He might hate Harry but thats because of James right. The only time that Snape ever lived up to his Death
Eater name was in the 6th book. I think that Dumbly told him to do it because he was going to die anyway. So maybe Dumbly wanted to keep Snapes status as a Death eater so that when the time comes he can Help Harry and noone will suspect it. Just my theory!
