I read a discussion about this topic in another chat room. It is believed that Dumbledor trusts Snape because, Dumbledor is hiding Snape's mother. Remember Harry saw the child Snape cowering/crying while his father was yelling or beating his mother? Also, Prof Dumbledor, in the last book, told Malfoy that he could hide his parents and that it has been done before?
