Why was Hagrid sent to pick up Harry when he was a baby? It seems to me that sending the only member of Hogwarts staff who can't apparate to pick up Harry and then have him travel across London to drop him off was a bit pointless when someone like McGonagal could have been there, picked him up and been back in about 20 seconds. Also Hagrid isn't the most incospicuous character and was likely to be noticed by muggles, I think Dumbledore must have had a really good reason to send him, but I can't think of one. Any ideas anyone?

see i think this is a pretty pointless Question. hagrid was the most logical choise to get Harry. he is the most loyal to DD right. Plus the head master never goes to get new students DD went to Get Tom Riddle not the head master so think about it who is better than Hagrid
