JK says that she made Harry have the right idea, it would all depend if Neville's parents would have willingly sacrificed themselves for him.See, it could of been either Harry or Neville that got the scar, but because Voldemort chose Harry and thought him the greater threat and Lily sacrificed herself for Harry, Harry became the Chosen One no matter how much Harry resents it!
