Don't you see? Dumbledore did face death stoically. He never showed any signs for fear. Not with Draco or any of the other deatheaters. Has pleading was not for his own life, but for Snape to do the one thing he didn't want to. Kill Dumbledore. Snape was loyal to Dumbledore and Dumbledore was not afraid of dying.
